Looking for Trouble

Ritchie strolled down to the Training Grounds, all six of his Pokemon out on purpose. He hoped someone ended up challenging him, anyone.

Ritchie had yet to fight anyone, and he was itching to battle. But it wasn't just that, he was afraid of being left behind. He didn't want to be losing battles because his Pokemon ended up being underleveled.

He found himself at the edge of a field. A large sheet of metal was on the other side.

"Vileplume, Drain Punch!"

The toxic flower Pokemon, ran at the steel, with one fist poised. It leaped at the last second, and her fist made contact.

Vileplume stood still for a second before pulling away, revealing the circular hole in the metal, with tiny vines wrapping themselves around it. There was no energy to drain, unfortunately. Vileplume gave a death glare at the sheet, looking like she felt cheated for not gaining any energy from that blow.

(You mind if I join with Kyle? Or did you have someone in mind? :3 )

"Chansey."

She chirped merrily, as she has been doing in all of Kyle's recent posts, introducing the Normal-type trainer.

"Chansey, Chansey," The pink egg-shaped creature waddled over to Vileplume from out of nowhere, and poked her on the petal-like head. She turned away and trotted amongst Ritchie's Pokemon, looking a bit confused as she stood in the middle of them. Her surprise turned to fear as she looked at the menacing faces around her -- the cruel leer of a Gengar, the veiled grimace of a Tentacruel, and the crimson bug eyes of a Beedrill.

She turned to a Nidoqueen, ready to fight her way out of this apparently threatening team, by any means necessary. Seismic Toss at the ready, she was ready to pounce when . . .

"Chansey!"

Kyle called nervously, running towards the pink blob. She assumed an innocent, very Chansey-like position, with her two stubby hands pressed together below her face. Her adorable smile was anything but that of what she was a moment ago.

Behind the black haired boy was his faithful Delcatty, as well as his Ursaring . . . a third Pokemon was out as well, a Minccino -- resting on the Ursaring's head.

"There you are, girl! I've been looking everywhere," He turned to Ritchie and gave him a huge, genuine smile. "Thank you for finding her! She gets lost like this too often, I really should keep a better eye on her but that's Delcatty's job and she doesn't pay attention very well so maybe you could forgive me for interrupting your training -- " The boy's run-off sentence stopped as he rubbed the back of his head a bit shamefacedly. Delcatty was looking especially scandalized, as if it wasn't her job to look after Chansey. It was Ursaring's.

"Heh-heh, sorry, I'm talking too much, right? I'm a bit nervous, I don't want you to be mad or anything if she bothered you . . . she didn't bother you, right?"

Ritchie blinked, not knowing exactly what to say. He'd never heard anyone say so many things at once. Ritchie stuck with a simple statement.

"Oh, no. Not at all." Ritchie assured him, feeling a bit overwhelmed. Vileplume waddled over to the group, her confused expression shaded by the large exotic petals on her head.

Ritchie suddenly remembered why he was here.

"Hey, how about a battle? Six on six." It was an odd thing for someone to ask, but he wanted to get that out there to prevent another flood of words. "Or, four on four." Ritchie added, in case those were all of Kyle's Pokemon.

Andrew saw the people talking over at the other side. I rather train.
"Go! Russ!"
He sent out his shiny Haxorus in sparks of red.
"Dragon Pulse!"
The dragon charged a beam of deep purple, and shot it at a large sheet of steel set up.
Destroyed.
"Good job!"

ooc: I dunno, just felt like posting :P

OOC: It's funny because Dragon is not very effective against Steel.

"Okay!" Kyle lit up, surveying the area. "I can do six on six," He added, and didn't ask any more questions. He walked to the other side of the field, and waved, a grin on his face when he got there.

"Hooray, a battle," He mused.

Ritchie recalled his Pokemon except for Crobat, who fluttered silently on his side of the field. Ritchie walked over to the edge of the training grounds and breathed out a nervous breath. Ritchie was confident that he could handle it, but he had no idea what to expect.

He gripped the red and white ball tightly, looking across from the field at Kyle. The Normal specialist probably looked a lot more relaxed than Ritchie.

Crobat fluttered around a bit, obviously as anxious as Ritchie, but still held the frightening expression it always held.

After he returned all of his Pokemon excepting Delcatty, he supposed he would go first. Regardless of what Pokemon Ritchie chose, Kyle had no type advantages . . . so he would try and use his best battlers first. Ursaring and . . . "Go, Miltank!" The pink cow rolled onto the field, and looked up at Kyle. She cried her familiar, "Mil-dooo-ooo!" Ready for battle.

Ritchie was a bit surprised by the Miltank. They were naturally bulky Pokemon, and he wondered if Crobat would be able to take it out.

"Cross Poison!"

Crobat zoomed at the Pokemon, slashing at the Normal-type with its wing as it passed by.

"Crobaaat!" it screeched as it began to fly back around for more.

"Mil-doo!" The Miltank fell back at the move, but she quickly steeled herself and awaited her trainer's command. Kyle was looking from the Crobat to its trainer, calculating a plan. People often thought those of the Joy family were flighty and that Normal-type trainers were careless, but that certainly wasn't true in Kyle's case.

"Miltank, dearest, use Stealth Rock, would you?" Kyle's seemingly nervous and anxious demeanor was replaced by a controlled, calm persona. Miltank nodded, understanding, and stuck her nubby-hooves in the air. As she did so, several sparkling rocks fell in behind her. Five -- one for each of the Pokemon that Ritchie will send in. One to crush each of them.

"Cross Poison again, Crobat!" Ritchie called out as his Pokemon wheeled around. Crobat obeyed, flying at the Miltank again before giving it another slash.
