Daydreaming

"Come on, Savannah! Just hit it once!" Ritchie pleaded, his Maractus sitting lazily in the middle of the field. The wooden plank in front of her was completely untouched. Instead of obeying her trainer, the Maractus bowed her head. After a couple of seconds of silence, a small snore could be heard. Ritchie sighed, plopping down and resting his head in his hands. Arceus knows what she would do in battle if it came down to it. He probably looked ridiculous. Here he was on an island for skilled trainers and he couldn't even control his own Pokemon.

Kyoko, after training a little, saw Ritchie trying to get his Pokemon to respond to his commands. Wonder why it's not listening... Kyoko slowly walked up to Ritchie, hoping that one of his Pokemon wouldn't come lunging at her.

Ritchie looked up to see Kyoko nearby. His heart skipped a beat when he realized that someone was seeing this whole ordeal. Hopefully she didn't notice... Ritchie thought desperately, standing up, quite embarrassed.

"Hello!" Kyoko smiled happily after having a battle with Olivia. "Well, I guess some more training wouldn't hurt..." Her Cyndaquil, Blazer, was on her shoulder the entire time, while she sent out her Gulpin, Bottomless. They instantly assumed a battle was going to take place. "Hold on guys." She giggled, and spoke further. "If the trainer's okay with it, then we can battle him, alright?" They seemed a little bit anxious to battle, and eyed Ritchie.

Ritchie gave a nervous wave. "Hey." He gave a light kick to the Maractus, who immediately shot up and looked around wildly. "And a battle's fine with me." Ritchie answered, more out of instinct than an actual will to battle. A Cyndaquil and a Gulpin? Both had an advantage over Savannah and she was sitting in the middle of a battlefield. Great.

"Alright, so is it just that Pokemon you're using, or are you using a second one?" Kyoko was curious to know, and hoped that the others were at least a little bit more...obedient.

"Well..." Ritchie gripped Morton's Pokeball. The Crawdaunt had a few tricks up his sleeve. If he had a sleeve. Morton wasn't very patient for sweaters. He sent out The Water/Dark-type, and the Pokemon snapped its claws together. "I'll use Morton too."

"Sounds good." Kyoko sent Bottomless out first. "So who makes the first move?" Kyoko knew her Gulpin had one unique trick that almost no other Gulpin had. It wasn't the most impressive, but it was special.

Morton stepped - or scuttled - forward and Ritchie recalled Savannah, stepping into his little box. Ritchie decided to be courteous. "You can go first." he replied. To be honest, he was rather nervous. The Crawdaunt would have to hold out if he wanted to win.

"Alright, let's show them what we're made of, Bottomless!" Bottomless attempted Sing.

The melody drifted through Morton's ears and he stumbled forward, as if to attempt to bonk the Gulpin on the head for singing at such a time, before falling face first on the battlefield. The Crawdaunt was completely still and it looked a bit ridiculous like that.

"Erm, Morton?"

Morton: 170/170 HP [SLP]

Perfect... Kyoko took this opportunity to stockpile thrice before Morton would wake up.
