"Ninetales can handle it," said Kyle, nodding for emphasis. Ninetales stood on all fours, bristling her fur to show she was ready. Her tails were a little cramped in between the desks, but she managed.

Ritchie didn't even motion to grab Stephen's ball. He didn't want his new teacher to become a lifeless husk. While it had seemed like he had been writing in his notebook, in reality he had been doodling. He watched curiously the Ninetales though. He didn't know what was going on and was wondering why it was up there.

Pryce nodded. He took the Flame Orb and carefully pressed it to Nintale's fur. When he released it, a small ember stuck around at the place where he pressed the orb.
"This is a burn, ladies and gentlemen. They are sometimes hard to see, but leech your Pokemon's HP and also cut down the strength of physical attacks."
He took a Burn Heal, a container filled with red liquid, and sprayed it on the burn. It disappeared.

Marie bit her lip and pulled out paper and a pencil, jotting everything down quickly, but for the most part neatly. She of course, being the studious little nerd that she was, had already knew all about the status conditions from her time in school before the academy. It did catch her off guard, though, that the teacher set a live example. Back in her old school, they had only shown pictures and videos; thanks to some very PETA-like groups and many of the student's personal tastes.

Marie glanced around the room, the only one who didn't seem to give any thought to reaching for her pokemon before ninetails was volunteered. Was she the only trainer here without a fire type?
She felt out of place to say anything then, simply staying quiet and watching the burn heal.
