Hiking Mt. Lax

Olivia shivered as she continued along the hike up the mountain, Mt. Lax, that she had not even seen when she came here. After a tough battle with Gale, she decided to hike up on her free time and train her pokemon to their full potential; it worked. They had become considerably stronger, but right now they were rather weary. She had them all out of their pokeballs in single file, following her up the path. Whoever spotted a wild pokemon was free to chase it down and defeat it, if they were fast and strong enough. It was an unorthodox way to train, but it would do for now. It'd be soon that other people would discover this tiny mountain and come train. Maybe she could challenge someone to battle, and see how much stronger they had become, or perhaps they'd have an extra jacket that Olivia could borrow. She didn't bring one heavy enough to keep herself warm. It was an island, so how was she supposed to know it'd be cold?

Robin carefully snuck up behind the fire trainer, taking steps carefully and not making a sound. She was kinda bored. With her training finished, her pokemon were kinda tired, and she felt like making at least one friend at the new school. Besides-- the trainer looked cold.
"BOO!"

Olivia gave a yelp of suprise, jumping a few feet in the air and turning to see that it was just another trainer. Her pokemon, who had stood by and watched, snickered their little pokemon hearts out. "Oh... hi. You scared me!" She turned sharply to the fire pokemon. "Fine! Laugh all you like, I'll see how much you laugh when you get to sleep up here!" At this comment, they were silent immediatly. It was too cold during the day, so there was no way they'd willingly sleep up here at night!

"Oh, don't be like that!" Robin laughed, handing Olivia a coat. "I'm Robin! I've been training up here, and when I finished I saw you-- and you looked cold!" She sent out her Froslass.
"I have ice-type pokemon! This is Frosty!"

"Oh, thanks." She gratefully wrapped the warm coat around her. "I have fire-type pokemon. These are all my pokemon- I didn't give them any nicknames. My starter was Flareon." At the mention of its name, Flareon jumped into her arms. The flame pokemon plus the jacket warmed her up quickly.

"Oh! By the way, my name is Robin." Robin stuck her hand out in greeting.

"Robin?"

A quiet, puzzled voice above them showed to contain the presence of none other than Chase, an ice-type trainer. He leaped off the ledge above them with ease, landing nearby. His Froslass floated down beside him.

He glanced at Olivia, not knowing who the heck she was. Short glance. He looked back at Froslass, who just huffed out icey breath. "Well, hi." He greeted awkwardly, hand behind his head. His pokemon rolled her eyes.

"Hi, Chase!" Robin greeted, an unnaturally big smile on her face as she turned and waved. "Watcha doing out here?"

"Training." He shrugged. "I heard your name, and Froslass spotted you down here. Guess she wanted to say hi." He laughed quietly, looking away a bit in embarrassment.

Froslass looked stunned at him, knowing she had no intention of "saying hi" to anyone. She nudged Chase with an annoyed look on her face.

"Well hi, Robin." She had barely managed to shake her hand before the other student showed up. "Chase, is it? I'm Olivia. You must be an ice-type trainer, like Robin. You guys both have a Froslass." She let Flareon jump to the ground and returned the other pokemon to their pokeballs.

Robin giggled, returning her Froslass. "I also have a Glaceon!"
She threw up her Glaceon's pokeball, releasing the icey pokemon.
"This is Icey! Of course, Chase already knew that."

"A Glaceon? Too cool!" Olivia bent down to pet the pokemon on the head, smiling. "I love Eevee's evolutions... Eeveelutions, I've heard them called." Her Flareon sniffed Glaceon carefully.

"Yep! Glaceon is my favorite!" Robin smiled.

Chase nodded. "Nice to meet you. We actually have a few of the same species." He laughed softly. Froslass floated over to Flareon and Glaceon, staring at them curiously.

"Is it hard to tell your Pokemon apart sometimes?" She asked. She never really knew anyone with the same Pokemon before.

Chase simply shook his head. "When you have a strong bond with a pokemon, you'll know who is who."

"Of course not!" Robin answered.

Olivia looked down at her Flareon, a bit depressed that she hadn't found this so-called "special bond" with any of her Pokemon. It sounded like they enjoyed this bond, so she was jealous of their ability to communicate with their Pokemon- all she could do was tell them to fight.

"Is something wrong?" Robin asked Olivia, turning around.

"Nothing, just that I can't seem to bond with my pokemon quite like it seems you have." She was mumbling some, because it seemed like everyone here was either stronger or had a better connection with her pokemon. "My Combusken and my Charmeleon should have evolved by now, but they haven't. I think it's because they don't trust me."

"Well, if you want them to trust you, train with them and do lots of things with them. Like, for example, going to the Oran Forest!" Robin gave a smile as she picked up her Glaceon.

Olivia, in turn, picked up Flareon. "But what will that do? Show them some scenery? Perhaps end up acidently catching something on fire? Charmeleon's done that before. It was an accident, but it still happened."

"Be supportive! Let your pokemon relax," Robin giggled.

"I guess. But they're always getting in trouble, what with the never-ending balls of energy Vulpix and Growlithe are." Olivia seemed now to just be making excuses. She'd heard before that bonding was a waste of time, but she also heard that it brought out their full potential. She just didn't know what to believe.

"Weeeell, that's not a supportive attitude!"
Robin frowned a bit and looked at Olivia with a stern.
"You're never gonna get your pokemon to like you if don't even think you can! You gotta be positive!"
Robin's face got cheery again, and the smile popped back onto her face.
